IvernRocks on  The S-Classes That I Raised
🏅

Have you ever got sick of power fantasies? I know. How could you? But let's say, hypothetically, that you are a person with a healthy life and maybe just maybe you are a bit tired of overpowered über strong macho main protagonists that destroy buildings with their farts.

That's where I come in. Hi. Ivern here. You already know me, probably. I'm the irritating guy you downvoted that time, remember? Anyway, I've got something for you.

This one is great. It's unique. Let's say immediately that the art is outstanding and perfectly suited for the comedic moments, too. And suited to make me thirst after both the men and the mommies in this. Like, I'm drooling. It's not even objectifying, the character design and characterization is just that cool. Let's also say it has a great translation (for now) and some good writing, truly great at delivering jokes. That's the basics tho. This baby excels in characterization and originality in its own version of the action formula.

No invincibility mode here. MC received the Power of Daddyness. It's not what you think. There is a Prime Daddy in here, in the sexual sense, but it's not him. His powers are an unicum in the action genre: he fükin brainwashes showers people with love, and they become strong. Of course, MC is not above being an absolute badass himself, but he is not powerful, per se. His babies are. That's fantastically refreshing. It also comes with its unique brand of humor, a terribly charming mixture of adorabless and parental violence, which is to die for. Die by laughing, to be precise.

I won't say more. Just read it. It's a recommendation, but more like a threat. Also I'm giving it the GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern). You know I am serious af when I give the GAI to stuff. Enjoy it.

IvernRocks on  The Duchess' 50 Tea Recipes
Welcome! I am Ivern, and I am mostly definitely not an agent of Big Tea™️ sent to convert you to our cause. My primary objective is indoctrinating you into drinking tea and give us your money to review this manga. And it's a tea themed review! There'll be plenty of cringy tea wordplays, okay? It's like dad humor, but with tea. So, grandma humor.

Anyway, this is how you do transmigration, bois. A sensible and relatable FL, a coherent backstory, nice character growth. Of course, it's all about the tea. It's literally a culinary journey by proxy. The entire feel of the manga is molded on it; gives it a distinct aroma. You better develop a taste for it: Chloe is a true tea maniac. And then there's Alphonse. My poor boi, Alphonse. He has one of my favorite character arcs, so I won't spoil it. They both grow to like each other subtly, while the familiarity and affection slowly set in. It's a sweet love story with limited drama, if you ignore Arthur's pitiful tantrums. Just like... A slow infusion, if you will. It's actually way more realistic than most contractual-to-real marriage tropes. I'll admit it, towards the end it does drag a bit, but it's still 140 chaps long. It's understandable.

Apart from the writing and characters, which are really enjoyable, the art is by no means lesser. The artstyle is pretty simple, but the quality is stable all along the ride. Environments, but especially panels with food are some of the highlights. There's an exceptional use of color, and the general feel is mellow, refreshing, like... a gently brewed cup.

So it has my warm recommendation. I'm done. No more puns now. I'll just say that even if the characters do overreact at times, it's a work full of feeling. There are moments where it is a real...

it's coming

brace for it

IvernRocks on  Seduce The Villain's Father
You know, me and this site's userbase? Not a great match. I neg you. You cover me with dislikes. I neg you again, but harder. It's a vicious circle. But I'd like to think that we can come together (lol get it c** together ahh get it?) to celebrate good things.

So let's celebrate, with one of the first historical isekais I've ever started reading. Maybe the very first. And as expected of me and my miraculous taste, it's exceptional.  You might think that's the nostalgia talking, but no: even now, after years, it gets better with every rereading.

You know all those "The Villainess is Good Actually" mangas that are mainstream now? They kinda seem a reaction to an certain trope, right? Especially when the antagonist is usually a sickly sweet and disgustingly childish "original female lead". Well, Yerenica is 100% That Bit[REDACTED]. She is inept, innocent, adorable, SHE HAS PINK HAIR, and she isn't particularly good at anything. She isn't a master of elegance. And yet there is a key difference from any random annoying [REDACTED]: she is a gõddamn person. A real one. She is written beautifully, she is effortlessly credible as a character, absolutely enjoyable. I detest moe usually, and I love her. That should tell you something.

Erudian is exactly the same. He is stoic, mature, calm, collected, and by all means he should be a walking stereotype of the "cold ML". He isn't. Again, he feels like a real man. With a real personality. Behind his behaviors there are reasons, he ticks in a certain way because he THINKS in a certain way. And it shows. Their love story is the posterchild for novel isekai noble sheaningans. Apart from the latter translation, the pacing, the dramatic tension of the overall plot, the dialogue's writing and characterization are absolutely phenomenal. So is the art, btw. Clean and simple, but consistent, from environments to character design. If I have to point out a flaw... the human anatomy is... Well. They kinda have a negative thiccness coefficient. ERUDIAN HAS NO A**, I MEAN.

Anyway, I'm recommending it and giving it the GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern), because there aren't many realistic relationship written this well out there. And that's a pity: this is proof that even with some trite tropes, the execution can make all the difference.

🏅

G****** it. I love this [REDACTED] thing. It's so [REDACTED] great. It makes me sooooo happy.

Hi, I'm Ivern, and I have poor impulse control. Also I love LOVE LOOOOVE this manga. My weak points are comedies, you see. In many historical novel transmigration tropes on this site there is a comedy component, but they are mostly romances. They can't really be classified as real romcoms.

Then Matchmaking Princess comes along and it decides to crank the humor level up so [REDACTED] high the meter breaks. Help me to say it: it's g****** hilarious. Perfect comedic timings. Funny af writing. With a deep and articulated characterization to booth. You would thing that, like many comedies, their personalities would be one dimensional. No sir. This one rocks hard. The characters' antics have me wheezing almost every other chapter, there is no end to my appreciation for the incredible cunty existence that is Ppuppu, and the others' utterly demented adorableness needs to be witnessed first hand. Trust me.

I'm saying that the romance and interpersonal storytelling components are [REDACTED] impressive too. Honestly even the serious moments have weight, and there are some unexpectedly complex themes that are very well explored. Many "serious" works wish they had this light and realistic touch in the character development of the cast.

For the art, it's... Well it's fine, okay? Don't be a [REDACTED]. You cranky [REDACTED]. It's not like it's unsightly. Also you get these random panels when the artist decides to snort 3 ounces of the purest cocaine and go overdrive mode, giving us majestically handsome portraits of the leads, just cause. It's like, you're reading it, then BAM, take this 300% increase into the budget right in the stomach. It's phenomenal.

Recommended. And also I'm giving it the GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern). A rare example of a truly funny historical isekai.

It's a nice little thing. Very hot, too. The art is stunning, when it doesn't rush. The writing is fine, while the conflict is interesting. Nonetheless, the key trait of both this review and the manga itself is "too quick". You could read it simply as po**, since the s** is absolutely filthy, but the pacing of the story is too rushed, it clearly needed 15-20 chapters more in the oven. You can see it embarrassingly clearly in the ending. Still, I'm satisfied.

Recommended for a quick wa**, or as you know it a "oh wow I lasted a lot today!" wa**, when you are in the mood for some mildly intriguing gangster sheaningans.
