Trauma is an efficient empathic firestarter. One of the priorities for an author is to create a link between the reader and the main character of their story; trauma helps with that. And so it is, that most isekais start like this: "Hi I am FL and i was abused from the tender age of 3 weeks old until my murder which happened in a backalley also I was stoned to death for being ugly and also also I'm an orphan".
This creates problems. Namely, two. Credibility, because it's just too much, and human pain is usually much more mundane. And coherence, because then the FL will go on to being an absolute bossbabe just due to her new environment, without any development or gradual change in her.
Is trauma impossible to mend? Thankfully no. Is it easy to fix? Oh fück me babe not at fücking all. This manga understands. People get warped by trauma. They are shaped by it, and overcoming is a gradual, very much not straightforward path. I won't go into the couple in this, suffice to say: they are incredibly written. Coherent to a fault. Perfectly and slowly developed. The rest of the cast is fine, but ML and FL are truly painstakingly characterized.
As a bonus, you will get impossibly sweet mommy/baby sheaningans, just the right amount of surreal and adorable that will make you melt; just don't expect the same level of realism in the characterization here. And also a good dose of comedy, thanks to an outstanding art department which is incredibly versed in exaggerated expressions and gags.
All in all, funny, touching and sweet. I'm gonna give it the GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern), and my thanks for finally making a FL respect her past personality and experiences as something that happened. As for ML, oh boy. Meet him on your own, lol.
