Return of the Broken Constellation (Return Of The Shattered Constellation)

Above all, I am an art-whôre. You know that. I know that. Everybody does. I'm a slütty, slütty drawing appreciator. I'm superficial, too. You could steal one of my kidneys and staple an hand drawn picture of a dragon in place of it, and I would thank you. Please take the other one too! Give me a unicorn this time! Use glitter to make its mane sparkle! 

So yeah. From chapter one, I knew. This manga knows me too. This manga really said "fu** the art budget" and I felt that. Outstanding art. Like, jaw dropping. The scene direction too, the details, the attention to the monster and environmental design: it is clear that this artist fu***. A lot. I bet he has an higher body count than your m  a generally promiscuous person. It's not really the faces he pours his full attention in, but by göd, there are some legitimately stunning panels in this.

What about the rest? Well kinda fuc*** actually. And keep in mind, we are talking about a shonen. I'm not searching for a Nobel in literature. The writing is so, so basic. Characterization is even more basic. Not one impressive character. Not even MC, which is your standard know it all, literally Deus-Ex-Machina-powered virgin. (Because of course we need to pander). Not even a quality translation can fix this.

But this is not its biggest sin. Oh no. Since this one watched its peers' OP power building, it observed their action formula... And it retained nothing. No coherent growth. Power ups gained from nothing. Worst of all, a very loose power system over-relying on mcguffins. A chaotic world building kept standing by the art, and a barely comprehensible premise. And the plot is nowhere to be found. Get this: even the System itself is written cringely. That's hilariously bad.

Giving it a 7 on the Ivern Scale™️ hurts me, but it's the right thing to do. Just watch the sparkles and get your endorphins from the gratuitous power creep. It could've been so much more than a mere shell devoid of substance, with art like this...
